Our team isn’t just strong—they’re also full of personality, talent, and heart. At Up Up and Away every crew member brings something special to the table (and the truck). Today, we’re excited to introduce you to one of our Team Leads, who knows how to work hard, lift heavy, and throw junk like a pro.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you came to join the team?

A: I’ve always been active—played football, basketball, and did shot put in school. I was also in orchestra and band. I play a bunch of instruments: cello, bass, clarinet, saxophone, piano, flute… you name it. Right now, I’m in school studying to become a physical therapy assistant.

I worked in junk removal before, but stepped away and missed it—it’s a job I really enjoy. When I found Up Up and Away, I knew it was a good fit.

Q: What’s your current role, and what does a typical day look like for you?

A: I’m a Team Lead. Most days start by getting in the truck and getting to work. Personally? I really like to throw things. It’s part of the fun.

Q: What’s one of the most interesting or unusual things you’ve hauled?

A: Definitely a refrigerator from the early 2000s that had never been opened after it konked out. We moved it—and as soon as we tilted it, black water started leaking out. The smell was… unforgettable.

Q: Can you share a memorable or rewarding moment from your time here?

A: One that stands out is when Rob and I took a baby grand piano out of a basement. It wasn’t easy, but the client was so impressed. Seeing their reaction made it worth it.

Q: What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced on the job?

A: Long walks to and from the truck, especially on big jobs. When that happens, I just throw on some music—Maribou State is a favorite—and keep it moving.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working in junk hauling?

A: Finding cool stuff. You’d be surprised at what people throw away!

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not hauling junk?

A: I like to play my cello and chill with some video games. Assassin’s Creed is my go-to.

Q: How would you describe the team dynamic at Up Up and Away?

A: It’s a big ole fam. We look out for each other.

Q: What’s the key to great customer service in this industry?

A: Treating people like people—not like walking wallets. A little kindness and respect go a long way.

Q: What makes Up Up and Away different from other junk removal companies?

A: We actually make an effort to get to know our clients. We don’t just show up and haul—we do our best to help however we can.

Q: What kind of impact do you hope we make in the community?

A: I want people to know we do what we say we’re going to do – we show up, get it done, and treat every client with the respect they deserve.
