At Up Up and Away Junk Hauling, we believe our people are the real superheroes. Every day, theyโ€™re out in the field doing the heavy lifting (literally and figuratively) to serve our clients with heart. Today, weโ€™re spotlighting Brian Morgan, our Operations Manager in Training, whoโ€™s been hauling junk for four years. Get to know Brian, his story, and why heโ€™s such a vital part of our team.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and how you came to join the team?

Brian: I played soccer all through high school and eventually started hauling junk about four years ago. The way I got started was pretty randomโ€”Rob (my brother) needed help on a massive hoarder cleanout and asked if I wanted to make a little extra money. I showed up, put in the work, and I guess I never left.

Q: Whatโ€™s your current role, and what does a typical day look like for you?

Brian: Iโ€™m the Operations Manager in Training, which means I spend a lot of my day on the road, problem-solving, and putting out firesโ€”making sure both our clients and our team are taken care of. Oh, and of course, Iโ€™m still picking up plenty of heavy stuff. Just the other day we loaded up eight pieces of restaurant equipment weighing in at about 3,200 pounds.

Q: What are some of the most interesting or unusual things youโ€™ve hauled?

Brian: Oh manโ€”there have been some wild ones. A golf cart, a trunk full of silver quarters, a samurai sword… You never know what youโ€™re walking into until youโ€™re there.

Q: Can you share a memorable experience or a moment that really stuck with you?

Brian: Honestly, any time we back a trailer into a really tight spot feels like a win. But the moments that matter most are when we help save a closing for a realtor and their client. Helping clients hit their deadlines? Real superhero moment.

Q: What are some of the biggest challenges youโ€™ve faced on the job?

Brian: Fixing other peopleโ€™s mistakes can be tough. But Iโ€™ve learned to take it with a grain of saltโ€”make the best decision you can in the moment, stick with it, and move forward. Itโ€™s all about staying steady.

Q: What do you enjoy most about working in junk hauling?

Brian: The dogs. No question. We meet a lot of cool dogs. Weโ€™ve even adopted a few kittens from shed cleanouts. You never know what (or who!) youโ€™ll find.

Q: What do you like to do when youโ€™re not working?

Brian: Golf. A lot of golf. I usually play with my brother, Rob.

Q: How would you describe the team dynamic at Up Up and Away?

Brian: Itโ€™s like a family. Weโ€™ve had our disagreements, sure, but we always work through it. At the end of the day, weโ€™ve got each otherโ€™s backs.

Q: What do you think is the key to great customer service in junk removal?

Brian: Communication. It makes a huge difference when we take the time to walk clients through our plan of attack. Keeping them in the loop goes a long way toward building trust.

Q: What makes Up Up and Away stand out from the competition?

Brian: Weโ€™re not just in it for the money. Weโ€™ve made sacrifices to help clients who couldnโ€™t afford everything, and we live out our core value of Open-Handedness. Plus, weโ€™re seriously family-oriented. We hang out after work. We go out to dinner. That kind of bond makes the whole team strongerโ€”and our service better.

Q: What kind of impact do you hope we make in the community?

Brian: I hope we make people smile. Lighten their loadโ€”literally and figuratively. Lifeโ€™s too short to take everything so seriously. If we can make someoneโ€™s day brighter, weโ€™ve done our job.
