Junk or treasure? Let’s get real

We’ve all been there—staring at that pile of stuff in the garage, the attic, or even the guest room “Is this junk, or am I just one DIY project away from greatness?” But here’s the thing: not everything is junk, but not everything is worth keeping either. So how do you decide?

We’ve seen it all—from sentimental keepsakes to broken coffee makers from 1982. Here are some tips we’ve picked up along the way from our clients that help make this decision a little bit simpler.

1. Be Honest About Usefulness

If you haven’t used it in the past year, chances are you won’t use it in the next year either. Ask yourself:

  • Does this item serve a purpose in my life today?
  • Would I buy this again?
  • Am I holding onto it out of guilt or obligation?

If the answer to most of these is “no,” then it’s time to let it go—cue the ‘Frozen’ soundtrack if it helps.

2. Sentimental Value vs. Sentimental Clutter

We all have those keepsakes that tug at the heartstrings—a photo album, your child’s first drawing, or grandma’s antique vase. But when every piece of paper from kindergarten becomes “sentimental,” it’s time to reevaluate. (I’m staring at you, overflowing counter basket…)

3. Is It Broken, or Will It Ever Be Fixed?

You meant to fix that chair leg… three years ago. If it’s been broken longer than you can remember, it’s likely not getting fixed anytime soon. Accept it. Move on. Let us haul it away.

4. Donate, Recycle, or Dump: The Decision Tree

If it’s still in good condition but doesn’t serve you, consider donating it. We love giving items a second chance at life – we’re all about responsible junk removal. We donate items in good condition to local charities and recycle whenever possible. But if it’s broken, outdated, or hazardous, don’t sweat it—we’ll dispose of it responsibly. We’ve got the connections to make sure it’s done right.

Ready to Declutter? Call in the Pros.

When it’s time to finally clear out that clutter, we’re just a call away. Whether you have a few items or an entire home or office cleanout, we’ve got you covered. Which method is the right fit for you?

Curbside

Old couch taking up space in your garage? What about that play kitchen your kiddo was gifted for their 3rd birthday? (They’re 15 now… it’s time.) Set it at the curb (or in an easy spot for our crew to grab quickly) and give us a shout to setup your curbside pickup! Offered at a discounted rate, this option may be a great one to explore. Read our recent blog post on our curbside pickup process here.

Standard Junk Removal

Our most popular service, this option requires the least amount of sweat and effort on your part. Leave the junk where it is and we’ll do all of the heavy lifting – you just point! Our team is fully ensured to go wherever the junk is (attics, crawl spaces… you get the idea!).

Dumpster rental

A little known fact? We also offer dumpster rentals. Sometimes it’s more satisfying throwing something into a dumpster yourself than watching someone else have all the fun… a little more sweaty maybe, but to each his own. How does it work? It’s as easy as it gets—you tell us where to drop it off, how long you need it, and boom, it’s done. No complicated paperwork or hidden fees and no damage to your driveway as our dumpsters are on wheels. You can even BOOK ONLINE from the comfort of your couch (or your junk-filled guest room, no judgment).  Need a few days to sort through everything? No problem. Just fill it up at your own pace, and we’ll haul it away when you’re ready.

The most difficult part of junk removal with us is picking up the phone and calling/booking online… what are you waiting for?
